When we talk about youth in Nigeria, such person according to Wikipedia is of ages 18 – 35 and some of the major attributes that qualifies a person to be a youth includes ceaseless strength, ability to take risk, they possess broad minds, future oriented, sustainability driven and many more. A youth must also possess the ability to study, listen, learn, and improve itself. A true youth must not be pessimistic but active with hard work for a better tomorrow, must not be at the receiving end, a complete consumer but must do all it takes (godly and lawful) to give back to his/her environment.
Now, when we talk about saving, anyone who is willing to save something that is, protect from utter destruction or downfall must first and foremost be knowledgeable about the subject matter, must be fully equipped for the job, and must be passionate about what is to be saved which will help overcome unseen challenges. A saver must be visionary, ethical, accountable, transparent, law abiding, and unbiased.
So, in our bid as youths to save this nation (Nigeria), do we possess all these qualities, have we been truly engineered in our inner mind and orientation to save the nation? The elders may have truly failed us, but considering the number of youth who have been privileged to represent at different levels so far, is there any major positive difference we can count on? Can we still believe in our youths to bring the desired change and sustainability? Is our last line of hope for this nation still formidable (to major atrocities and mistakes committed by our elders whose hands are already on the exit knob)
It is the writer’s belief that what we need to save this nation is in us, we only need to let it shine forth. The change we desire can only come to be if we position ourselves rightly as agents of change. We must see things holistically, and not being narrow-minded, our reasoning skills must be upgraded.
If we must take charge, we must stop being social media war-lords and sycophants, arguing unnecessarily on matters that won’t add value to our lives but invest every bit of our living in order to better us. If we all do this individually, then collectively our stand will be acknowledged, no longer shall we be regarded to as joke in the society
We are youths, we are the future by nature’s will, hope for the coming generations. If the future will be anything better than the past, we must take the present by its horn, invest right and do the right thing. God bless you and your hustle as you position yourself as an agent of positive change and economic boom to save this nation. You are our last line of hope dear youths.
