A Piece of Peace

In my journey through life

 I came across you

Like a ray of sunlight

Reflecting through the moist cloud of June

You caught my attention

With the cherubic appearance

So pleasing that my view from a distance

Couldn’t disrupt the detailed picture I took of you

Taking the captured moment to mind

Processed through a series of filter

Left me wondering in the ecstasy of the moment

I had first seen you

A time buried so deep within

Like the joy and pain of motherhood

How then can I forget?

When my days at work reflect you

And my time alone, all I see are flashes

With your memories all around me

A piece of you do I wake to see hanging on my wall

Words written not in fear but in the depth of love

Just like your handwritten notes in my possession

What then should I hope for?

When our fate you’ve decided without me

My self-strengthening spirit and smile squashed

And my piece of peace you’ve taken away
